Colorado Responsible Vendor Training (MED)

The Colorado Responsible Vendor Training Program (MED) is a comprehensive, state-approved compliance certification delivered by an Authorized Training Provider (ATP) and aligned with regulatory oversight from the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED). This integrated program combines all three required Responsible Vendor Training components into a single certification pathway: Core Responsible Vendor Training, Responsible Marijuana Delivery Training, and Responsible Marijuana Hospitality Training. Together, these modules provide the full scope of education required for cannabis professionals to operate legally, responsibly, and in accordance with Colorado’s regulated marijuana framework. This certification delivers a complete understanding of compliance responsibilities within retail cannabis operations.

Participants will learn how to apply MED regulations to daily job functions, including verifying identification, enforcing refusal procedures, maintaining accurate records, and adhering to strict inventory tracking requirements within Colorado’s seed-to-sale system. Emphasis is placed on aligning operational practices with regulatory expectations to prevent violations, protect public safety, and maintain licensure. The curriculum provides in-depth instruction on security and operational controls, including surveillance requirements, incident reporting procedures, and internal compliance protocols. Participants will also gain knowledge of packaging and labeling standards, waste disposal regulations, and consumer education responsibilities that are essential for compliant retail operations.

These competencies ensure that employees can effectively support safe product handling and lawful transactions within licensed cannabis establishments. In addition to the Core RVT requirements, this program includes specialized training for cannabis delivery and hospitality operations. The Delivery module provides guidance on secure transport procedures, chain-of-custody protocols, and documentation standards required for lawful cannabis distribution. The Hospitality module addresses compliance requirements for on-site consumption environments, including monitoring patron behavior, enforcing consumption limits, and maintaining safe, regulated spaces. These supplemental trainings are aligned with statutory requirements established under Colorado House Bill 19-1230.
