New Mexico Cannabis Server Certification (RLD)

The New Mexico Cannabis Server Permit Certification is a state-compliant training program designed to meet the requirements established under New Mexico Statutes Annotated 1978 §26‑2C‑11 and regulations administered by the New Mexico Cannabis Control Division (CCD). New Mexico law requires individuals serving cannabis in licensed establishments to obtain a Cannabis Server Permit within thirty (30) days of employment, successfully complete approved training with a minimum passing score of 80 percent, and renew the certification every three (3) years to remain eligible for employment. This program provides the required education and practical knowledge necessary to perform responsible cannabis service while maintaining compliance with New Mexico’s regulatory framework.

The training prepares cannabis servers to understand how cannabis affects the body and how it may interact with alcohol, medications, and other substances that may increase impairment risks. Participants learn to recognize indicators of problematic consumption, apply responsible service practices, and properly verify customer identification to prevent unlawful transactions. The program also addresses the legal responsibilities associated with cannabis sales, including preventing sales to underage individuals, recognizing signs of impairment, and implementing appropriate refusal-of-service procedures that support public safety.

In addition to regulatory requirements, the curriculum emphasizes harm reduction strategies, responsible customer interaction, and workplace practices that help maintain safe cannabis environments. Participants explore liability considerations, risks related to driving under the influence, and intervention techniques designed to reduce unsafe consumption behaviors. Upon completion, graduates demonstrate the competencies required to operate responsibly within New Mexico’s regulated cannabis industry while protecting consumers, supporting compliant retail operations, and maintaining the professional standards expected of certified cannabis servers.
